The station was built to ease the high volume at the Meadowvale station, and to provide better service for the local community. The station provides parking spaces for about 780 vehicles. In 2009 a wind turbine was constructed at the station and now supplies majority of the power at the station. The turbine is the first on-site wind generation system for a North American transit system.
