CLARKSON NEIGHBOURHOOD


Clarkson's 20th century style community allows for easy accommodation. Clarkson, being the oldest community in Mississauga, initially started off as a village-like settlement. It is now home to a mix of middle and upper class residential areas. Clarkson is bordered by Lake Ontario to the south, Oakville (across Winston Churchill Blvd.) to the west, Lorne Park to the east and Queen Elizabeth Way to the north.

Clarkson is well known for its educational institutes and their intricately designed buildings. Most schools lie to the north-west or the south-east areas. Elementary schools include; Elmcrest, St. Helen, Willow Glen, Horizon Jeuness, St. Louis, Clarkson and Owenwood Elementary School(s). 3 middle schools are located on opposite corners include Hillside, Hillcrest and Green Glade Middle School. High schools include Clarkson and Iona Secondary School to the north (west).

Public Transportation

Clarkson GO Station acts as the central hub for the Clarkson community and can be found on the Lakeshore West Line. Mississauga Transit routes often link up to the GO station and routes are interchangeable. Public transportation across the Clarkson area is very accommodating in and around the region and even connects to other major neighborhoods.
 

Nature 

To the north lies the Kogaydiwin Trail that feeds into the Sheridan Creek Trail and travels south into several parks such as Kogaydiwin Park, Clarkson Park, Twin Spruce Park and eventually hits the Rattray Marsh Conservation Area; home to all of Clarkson's avid nature lovers and enthusiasts. Numerous parks for sports and outdoor activities are scattered across the area such as Hillside Park, Birchwood Park, Jack Darling Memorial Park and Lewis Bradley Park right by Petro Canada Park.
 

Clarkson Community Centre

The CCC offers a large 25m swimming pool as well as a warm water therapeutic pool. Clarkson Activity Studio has a wood sprung floor and mirrored walls perfect for the numerous group exercise classes it holds. Classes include Zumba fitness, belly and ballroom dancing, yoga, Pilates and more. Clarkson Arena hosts a variety of programs including Learn to Skate, Ice-Hockey, Public Skating, Summer Lacrosse and Ball Hockey. Clarkson Gymnasium offers a variety of recreation opportunities including basketball, volleyball, badminton, indoor soccer and more. The Clarkson Library features approx. 46,000 items, internet access, and more.
